Police are asking the public for help identifying and locating a man accused of stealing an envelope containing $1,200 in cash from a customer at a Long Island deli.

At about 12:40 p.m. on Friday, April 23, a man claimed ownership of the envelope that was left on the counter by another customer and was being held by an employee at Taveras Deli, Grocery & Catering, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

The business is located at 23 River Ave. in Patchogue. 

SCPD said the man then drove away in a white Volkswagen sedan.

Authorities are offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information can submit a tip by calling Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
